Product Introduction
This route mainly uses walking and public transport. Please confirm the exact departure time and meeting point with the travel agency specialist in advance.
Set off from your hotel to the meeting point. Led by a local guide, your first stop is a few Xinjiang beef skewers, where the aroma of charcoal-grilled fat mixes with cumin and chilli to wake up your taste buds. Next, visit the long-established Da Hu Chun for a portion of Shanghai’s most authentic “clear broth style” pan-fried buns. The skin is thin, the base is crisp, and the meat filling is firm. Bite a small opening and the savoury broth flows out. Then continue to Hong Chang Xing to try golden, crisp beef pan-fried buns, with a fragrant crust, juicy filling and plenty of old Shanghai memories. After that, enjoy Xian De Lai pork chop rice cakes: crisp fried pork chop served with soft, chewy rice cakes, topped with a secret sweet bean sauce. The layered sweet and savoury flavour is hard to stop eating. Finally, end with a bowl of speciality local Shanghai noodles, such as spicy pork noodles, spring onion oil noodles or noodles with shredded pork and pickled mustard greens. The noodles are springy and the toppings are rich, bringing this food tour to a satisfying close.
Public transport connects each stop throughout the tour, as you move through Shanghai’s small streets and lanes and experience everyday local life while waiting for and riding transport. Xiaolongbao, pan-fried buns, pork chop rice cakes, lamb skewers... enjoy them all in one trip! After the tour, the guide will help you return to your hotel or recommend onward transport options.
