About This Place
Lu Bo Lang sits beside Jiuqu Bridge in Shanghai’s Old City God Temple area. Its original site was a pavilion in the West Garden of Yuyuan Garden during the Jiajing period of the Ming dynasty, and it was officially converted into a restaurant in 1979. The three-storey interior is modelled on Ming and Qing architecture, with window views of Jiuqu Bridge and the lotus pond. Known for state banquets and boat-shaped dim sum, it has hosted more than 40 groups of foreign heads of state, including Clinton and Elizabeth II, and is praised as “a dim sum banquet for the world”. Its pastries are the signature, with eyebrow-shaped pastry, osmanthus rice cake and crab roe xiaolongbao among the classics.
