About This Place
Guangmingcun Grand Restaurant of Shanghai Guangmingcun Industrial Co., Ltd. is located at 588 Huaihai Middle Road, Huangpu District, Shanghai. The history of Guangmingcun Grand Restaurant goes back 70 years, when it was known as Guangmingcun Dim Sum Shop, famous for its distinctive noodles and pastries, and was a “designated supplier of traditional specialties of Shanghai Catering Company”. Huaihai Canteen was established at the current site on 29 October 1956; Luwan District Catering Service Company was established in the third quarter of 1958; in January 1960, Huaihai Canteen became a state-owned unit, and the shop name was officially changed to Guangmingcun Dim Sum Shop. In line with the district government’s plan to develop Huaihai Middle Road into a prosperous and elegant commercial street, and with approval from the relevant authorities, Guangmingcun Grand Restaurant was redeveloped. It closed for renovation on 22 July 1990 and was rebuilt as “Guangmingcun Grand Restaurant”. On 29 December 1993, it opened and officially adopted the name “Guangmingcun Grand Restaurant”.
